TOEFL Exam Waivers
The TOEFL may be waived if you:
- are completing or have completed a four-year bachelor's degree in the United States that is not a B.F.A., B.M., or technical degree and you have earned a grade point average of 3.0 or better; or
- have had continuous residency in the United States or an English-speaking country for a period of no fewer than five years; or
- can provide proof of extensive secondary and postsecondary education with exposure to the English language as an integral part of the curriculum.
Applicants should contact the director of graduate admissions before submitting the application for a TOEFL waiver consideration. The director reserves the right to require language testing even if you meet the above criteria. Applicants who are granted a waiver will receive an exemption code.
