Are certificate courses separate from the MFA programs at Tisch Asia?
Yes. Admissions and courses are both completely separate. Taking the non-credit course does not gain a student access to MFA programs.
Do I need a college degree to be eligible?
No. You do not need a college degree to take certificate courses.Who takes Tisch Asia certificate courses?

Do I need a background in film or experience with film?
No. (exception: Because of the advanced level of instruction, ‘Color Sync’ has a prerequisite of ‘Sight and Sound’, or equivalent.)
What are some of the benefits of these production courses?
-You will write and direct 5 short films. You will be part of the crew of 20 films total. (Sight and Sound)
-You will complete a short color sound film. (crew on 4 total)(Color Sync)
-You will gain experience of working on numerous short films, playing each of the key roles on a film set: Director; Producer; Cinematographer; Editor.
-Hands-on experience with Super 16mm film cinematography and digital filmmaking.
-Instruction from industry professionals who have been recognized widely for their teaching and artistic excellence.

Certificate courses offered at Tisch Asia represent the core components on which the film programs at Tisch School of the Arts and Tisch Asia are based. The course content is the result of over 40 years of Tisch filmmaking and instructional experience. The work of Tisch Alumnus has been honored at the Academy Awards, the Golden Globes, the Sundance Film Festival, the Venice Film Festival, the Cannes Film Festival, the Berlin International Film Festival, etc.
Can I take both ‘Sight and Sound’ AND ‘Writing for the Screen’?
Yes, however be aware that this is a full-time commitment. Weekends will likely be devoted to your coursework and productions.What facilities and equipment will I be using in the production courses?
-Arri SRII super 16mm camera packages
-State of the art Final Cut Pro editing suites
-Foley and ADR rooms
-DVX 25p digital video cameras (Digital Filmmaking)
Can students take just one course?
Yes. Approximately 70% of students take individual courses. 30% of students complete all courses needed to earn a certificate.Is financial aid available?
At this time, no scholarships are available for certificate courses.Is housing available?
Tisch Asia doesn’t operate dorms, however we will provide students with information about short-term housing options.
