Chasing The Chaser with Alumnus Shinho Lee

Standing amidst the students, Shinho Lee looked like any student currently at Tisch School of the Arts Asia. The only difference is that he has already written 14 feature screenplays, including award-winning Korean films like The Chaser and The Red Snow, and he has also written five plays. Lee, who graduated with a BFA in Film and Television Directing in 2000 and an MFA in Dramatic Writing in 2002, visited Tisch School of the Arts Asia for a Q&A session following the screening of his award-winning movie The Chaser.

Dramatic Writing students were curious about details of the film, which is inspired by a true incident. Lee discussed the Korean movie industry, and how he launched his career. Lee also discussed casting, the sources of his inspiration for such a grey and violent film, and the structure of his script.

On his tour of the campus, the alumnus remarked that the Asia campus reminded him very much of his days as a student in New York, and felt strongly that the greenery will be advantageous for students to focus on their artistic and academic pursuits.
