Level II: Screenwriting II: Bootcamp
Course Number: H98.1004.903
Dates: Sunday, 6 June to Sunday 13 June 2010 (8 sessions/days total, i.e. every day that week, Sunday to Sunday)
Times: Class meets 9am - 12pm, Re-writes done independently 1pm - 4pm
Price: SGD $1,785
Location: Tisch Asia campus, 3 Kay Siang Road

Prerequisite: Students should be proficient in the English language. A minimum IELTS score of 5.5 (or equivalent) is recommended. It is also recommended that students have attended the Screenwriting I course or have had some screenwriting experience, but those without any screenwriting experience are also welcome to apply.
At the end of this short, rigorous course, students will have written the first 30 pages of a full-length screenplay and will have developed a detailed treatment (outline description) for an entire screenplay.
Class will meet every morning for craft lectures and workshops. Students will spend their afternoons and evenings writing assignments due the next day.
At the end of 8 days, students will have gone through the process of developing dimensional characters, compelling dramatic situations, a workable short outline for a screenplay, a longer screenplay treatment of 7 to 20 pages, and will write the first act of the screenplay. Openings, inciting incidents, story purpose, conflict, complications, and dramatic action will be discussed.
When students leave Bootcamp, they will have grappled with the basic tools needed to complete a first draft of a full-length screenplay of 90 to 120 pages. Screenwriting I or its equivalent is highly recommended though not required. This course is not for the faint-hearted. Students must be willing to learn quickly and work hard.
