Adjunct Instructor - Marketing


New York University, Tisch School of the Arts Asia is seeking an adjunct instructor in Marketing to teach the Foundations of Marketing in the MFA International Media Producing Program for Fall 2011. A background in Marketing and a knowledge of Film, TV and New Media would be very helpful. An understanding of Producing is not essential but a background in creative industries is important. The ideal candidate will have an MA/MBA or higher in Marketing with a focus on Media or Film/TV and New Media.

Foundations of Marketing - 2 credits

This course provides the essential demand-side view of the media, teaching what it means to be market-driven and a customer-oriented business. It is designed to provide students with a framework for understanding the dynamics of producing a finished creative product in the entertainment and media industries. It provides a framework for understanding the key marketing, economic and strategic issues facing organizations in the media. It covers the key sectors of the entertainment industry, focusing on film, television, music, stage and new media in a global context. The course utilizes lectures, guest lectures, discussion and case studies.

A well conceived Marketing Plan will be a crucial part of the assessment.

Requirements:

  • A minimum postgraduate degree in Marketing
  • At least 5 years industry experience with preferably 2 years lecturing experience in a similar capacity
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to impart knowledge and share industry experiences
  • Ability to teach both day and evening classes
