Dramatic Writing Portfolio
Written Work
Prepare a sample or samples of written work, such as a full-length play or screenplay, of no fewer than 50 pages. Speculative television scripts (for existing programs) may be submitted but must be accompanied by original creative material of at least the same length. Only one speculative script may be submitted. All other work in the creative portfolio must be original work that was not produced in collaboration with other writers. Adaptations from any medium except for one speculative television script are not acceptable. Do not submit audiotapes or videotapes.
Letters of Recommendation
The Department of Dramatic Writing also requires three letters of recommendation, preferably from faculty, writers, or other theatre or film professionals who are familiar with your creative writing talents; a personal statement; and a resume.
Personal Statement
The personal statement should express your goals as a writer and the reasons you are applying to the program. The résumé should list productions, stagings, and any publication of your work as well as any work experience relevant to your writing career. These items should be sent with the application for admission.
Please prepare the following items for your creative portfolio:
- The writing sample(s), as outlined above.
- The Creative Portfolio Contents Guide Sheet. Each writing sample submitted should be clearly labeled "Tisch School of the Arts Asia." The writing sample(s) should have your name (last name first, in capital letters, followed by the first name in initial cap and lowercase letters, using the exact same name you have used on the application for admission: e.g., SMITH, John) and U.S. Social Security number on the cover (date of birth for international applicants: month/date/year, e.g., 05/31/86).
Enclose items 1and 2 (see above) in one well-wrapped, clearly labeled package and submit to:
