Prerequisite: For first year Playwriting concentrates only.

A continuation of the exploration of genres and styles in theatre. Whereas the first semester concentrated on tragedy and comedy, this semester will focus on farce, satire, melodrama, surrealism and other styles. You will examine each writers’ approach to their storytelling, comparing differences, noting similarities and studying the evolution of the various styles throughout the history of theatre, most particularly from dawn of the modern age in the late nineteenth century through to the contemporary theatre of today.
