This course is designed to give students some insights into, and a deeper understanding of, the use of cinematic language - mise en scene, location, colour, production design, camera, lighting, sound design and editing - through the study of some of the classic films of these past fifty years; films which have enjoyed commercial success and critical acclaim both at home and abroad, and which have gone on to garner major awards in film festivals throughout the world.
