Motion Capture I

This class explores ways to create animation based on the observation of life in motion. Students learn how to master digital animation and video techniques for the capture of, analysis and visualization of motion from real life. Students use the motion data inside their own animation projects. Students focus on actor's gestures, postures, style and expressions and ways to animate a puppet, a digital character or even a robotic device. Students research devices and methodology of motion capture created by early inventors of photography and cinema and the most recent motion tracking systems. Assignments may include working with dancers, locomotion study and facial animation.
