Living In Singapore

Singapore is a small tropical island often referred to as the best place to live and work in Asia.  The country is geographically situated in such a way that locations in China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam become an extension of the campus.

The country itself is home to people of Chinese, Malay, and Indian descent. And, with a growing international community, Singapore is increasingly celebrated as a place where east and west converge. The country’s official languages are Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, and English; however, English is the language of business, technology, and instruction.

Singapore is a dynamic place to live. Students find it easy to immerse themselves in the country’s vibrant arts districts, ethnic neighborhoods, and yearly festivities, including the Singapore Arts Festival and the Singapore International Film Festival. The city has a festive and colorful nightlife, and because a significant portion of the island has been set aside for recreation and nature conservation, Singapore is one of Asia’s best cities for outdoor activities.

In Singapore, students can enjoy one of the highest standards of living in Asia.  With low crime rates, a warm, tropical climate year round, a wide array of scenic locations, modern facilities, advanced telecommunications, and a well-organized and extensive public transportation system, students will find Singapore to be an ideal educational backdrop.
